Time to finally start with all those eagerly awaited autumn reads…
New Releases:
Stuart Turton’s „The Devil and the Dark Water“, Naomi Novik’s „A Deadly Education“ and of course my most highly anticipated read of the year, V.E. Schwab’s „The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue“. I haven’t read a single word ever written by any of these three authors, so I’m really curious for what they have in store.
Series:
I’m still meandering through Dorothy Dunnett’s groundbreaking „Lymond-Chronicles“, book four (A Pawn in Frankincense) at the moment, and well, she’s basically outshining and outwriting everything else ever published in Historic Fiction. Constantly. By far. Sorry, Hilary Mantel. I still love your books, but you’re just not her. Regarding Fantasy, I’ll start with Maggie Stiefvater’s „Raven Cycle“ – once again an author that’s new to me, and I’m also taking part in a buddy read of „The Lord of the Rings“. First time I‘ m reading it in English, really looking forward to it!
Standalone:
Madeleine Miller’s „Circe“ comes with high praise, so I’m extremely nervous if it can live up to it (please do live up to it, Circe!). John Irving’s „The Hotel New Hampshire“ is still lying around on my shelf collecting dust, so maybe I’ll finally pick it up – but only after finishing this tiny, little novel called „War and Peace“ by that Tolstoy guy, so…well. Never gonna happen. Don’t know why it’s doomed to rest unread on my shelf forever, but I’m not really interested in it at the moment. Same goes for „To Kill a Mockingbird“. Maybe sometime in December, but I wanted to FINALLY read Sanderson’s „Mistborn“ Trilogy in December after binging his amazing writing lecture on Youtube, so…sorry, Hotel New Hampshire.
Same here, I haven’t read any VE Schwab yet so The Invisible Life of Addie Larue will be the first and I am eagerly anticipating it, due to all the hype surrounding it in the bookish community!

There’s certainly been A LOT of hype around it lately, hope it lives up to my expectations which are, er, skyrocketing more and more every day!
