Review: A DEADLY EDUCATION (SCHOLOMANCE #1)

A witty, hard, amazingly sarcastic masterpiece featuring a sassy, brilliant protagonist with one of the most entertaining voices in modern Fantasy. Naomi Novik’s ‚A Deadly Education‘ turns the whole genre conventions of magical school books upside down and is both original and blessed with a compelling protagonist.

Kritik: HARRY POTTER UND DER GEFANGENE VON ASKABAN (HARRY POTTER #3)

Review: THE BLADE ITSELF

Joe Abercrombie’s ‚The Blade Itself‘ is an action-packed, fast-paced, grim-dark introduction into his ‚First Law‘ trilogy that is above average and yet somewhat disappointing. It has interesting characters and fascinating world-building, but suffers from a number of problems that often come with first books in a trilogy.

Review: JONATHAN STRANGE&MR NORRELL

This is perhaps the most unique fantasy book written in the last fifty years, both intelligent and fascinating. You need a lot of patience for this one – I don’t think I’ve ever needed this much time for a book I really liked, but it’s totally worth it. The writing is superb, the characters are strong and entertaining, and the world-building is in a league of its own.

Review: NINTH HOUSE

Leigh Bardugo’s first adult novel is a dark, uncomfortable and gripping read. As always, it’s hard to get into the story, but once you’re in it, it’s impossible to put down: blessed with a fascinating protagonist, an intriguing world and a hell of a story.

Review: SIX OF CROWS

This is the book that revived my reading addiction. Shame on you, Leigh Bardugo, because I was on the way to, you know, socialize with people. Get a real life and stuff. But no, you had to write this book and I was stupid enough to buy it…and then everything else you’ve ever written.
